Academy Band
In a fairly new addition to the Mitcham City Brass line up – we have introduced a second band, Mitcham City Brass Academy.
Our Academy Band rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7.00 pm in the Bandroom (corner of Belair Road and Grange Road (entry to carpark is opposite the KFC drive through).
MCB Academy is open to players of all ages and has been developed to cater for those who love music and would like to play in a more relaxed and fun environment, at a lower music level than our Mitcham City Brass band.
Mitcham’s Musical Director, Steven Packer also leads this band, and is backed by some of our more experienced musicians who provide a mentoring role to our younger and newer players.
We love brass band music, and want to share this with as many people as possible. So, if you
• have just completed school or Uni music studies and looking for somewhere to continue playing
• are learning a brass instrument or are an established player looking for a group to practice/play with
• or if you played a brass instrument “in a previous life” and want to get back into making music in a fun and welcoming environment
then we’d love to hear from you!
Don’t have an instrument? … we can set you up with one for a very nominal hire fee.
Never played an instrument before? … we can arrange lessons to bring you up to speed so you can play in the Academy Band!
We have vacancies for Brass and Percussion players and if you are interested in coming along, want to find out more information or want to join our band – please contact our Secretary, Tamina at secretary@mitchamcitybrass.org
