We are proud to report that Mitcham City Brass were winners of the C Grade Brass section of the 2019 South Australian State Band Championships held on Saturday 27 July. The competition was very close and we extend our congratulations to the other bands in our division for their fantastic efforts, particularly Salisbury City Band and Campbelltown City Band who came a close 2nd and 3rd, and also to Mount Gambier City Band who travelled all the way from the south east to take part.

The win comes after much effort and hard work in rehearsals leading up to the competition, but is also indicative of the continuous improvement of our overall sound and quality of performance under the leadership of Musical Director Steven Packer.

It was also a fitting highlight for Jenny and Greg Easton’s last performance with the band. Jenny and Greg are moving to the South East from where they claim it is too far to attend rehearsals! After many years performing with the band, contributing as librarians and makers of excellent cakes and such treats for rehearsals, we will certainly miss them. We wish them all the best and hope they will find time to sit in with the band whenever they venture back to Adelaide.
